An ode to our friends

About a month and a half ago we launched our first preview of Geojoey and persuaded a few of our friends to join and give it a test drive. You guys patiently took the site through it's first paces, went to lunch with us, IM'd us, engaged us in long email threads and had long international phone calls at 4am and basically told us how to do it right. Well I'd like to dedicate this new version to you. You know who you are!

We've taken every one of your amazing suggestions, tips, recommendations, and guidance and rolled it into an application that may very well rock the world. Today we're starting with a limited 24 hour preview of Geojoey V2. It'll be invite only until tomorrow around 2pm, and then we'll go public.

Just a quickie to let you know we weren't hit by a bus or abducted by aliens. Still working hard and no definite date yet on V2, but it is looking sweeeeeet.

Today we added a new feature to Geojoey that sent chills down my spine when I saw it work. I'm not telling what it is, but it's going to blow you away.

For the geeks among you, we invested a couple of weeks after the initial launch in refactoring the code to make it more scaleable and extensible before we launch. It was a drag because when you're refactoring, you're not adding new features, but instead you're just shifting things around, making everything modular and doing housekeeping - and it can get scary when you've ripped everything apart and it's all lying there in pieces and you're not sure if you're going to be able to put it together again.

But once done it became incredibly easy to add new features and streamline existing ones. Today it all paid off because we managed to add something that increases Geojoey's usefulness massively.

Right now it feels like this thing is a time-bomb waiting to explode.
